𝗔 £500+ 𝐛𝐨𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, one of those Dyno Proven ones lol…
This one had been "tuned" by a "tuning centre" renowned for never putting the vehicle on the dyno. The customer brought it in for us to take a look — we did a 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 (which includes a code scan) and let’s just say… we were immediately reluctant to get involved further.
Up on the dash: “𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽”
Logged code: 𝐏𝟏𝟏𝟑𝐃 — Exhaust Gas Temp Sensor fault.
Despite paying £500, the customer wasn’t shown what was being done (despite it being on nearly every post the firm makes), wasn’t shown the car on a dyno, it clearly wasn't tested and in our opinion it was little more than a "automatic" solution from WinMAF or Davinci! Worst yet they left with an active fault — all after only wanting some help clearing a few NOx-related codes on a newly purchased car.
Why wouldn't the map on the vehicle simply be edited to delete a few DTC codes if that was all the customer wanted? Hardly rocket science....
They were then told it would be another £250 just to flash the car back to stock using a factory tool, then more again for a "proper dyno tested" DPF/EGR/AdBlue-off tune. Was it really flashed with a factory tool though? It doesn't look like the latest software release to me....
Was the solution the worst we’ve seen? No it clearly looked like the typical automatic solution done by naff tuning tools. But P113D being left active suggests zero logging or proper test drive was done. If any logging or code scans had taken place, wouldn’t the error simply had been deleted?
The actual sensor is reading nearly 900 degrees without the engine even running! Come on, where is the testing.....
Soot well over 50%, if it had been reset then why is the value so high? Yep half a job! Its even gone up and the solution is bad or it was never reset to zero before flashing it!
The dash warning was even explained away as a “service due” message…
Except it wasn’t.
We reset service intervals this was a fault caused by the tuning itself. The SCR system (AdBlue) was still active, and you can literally hear it trying to inject.
𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻? 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴? £𝟱𝟬𝟬? 😂 Don’t make us laugh.
We’ve recommended disconnecting the AdBlue system to see if that helps reduce further cost for the customer — because frankly, we feel awful when people come in after spending serious money elsewhere, only to be left with no real help when issues arise.

Update: Customer has been back to the "dyno proven" tuning centre. They now have their "original" map back on it and no service light on. But of course they are £550 worse off for the efforts.
