Renault 5 Turbo in with a Pinking issue.
Under even small amounts of boost the engine starts to pink. Unfortunately it appears to be burning a little bit of oil under boost too which is fouling the plugs.
We see lots of cars for our engine check over service where we spent typically a couple of hours looking at the car identifying issues that need to be resolved.
Sometimes we get in cars which aren't even ready for that. Lots of "minor" issues stop us from really assessing the car. We've seen very big "classic car restorers" brining in cars for a tuning session only to arrive with fuel leaks, power steering leaks etc, we see cars with oil pressure warnings, misfire, chokes and throttles not attached right. Yes we can identify these issue as part of the process, but as I advise everyone, you need to fix as many faults as you can before you bring it in, not come in with a list of "known" faults that you've not rectified.
A few years back we had a little Austin 7 arrive only for there to be major wiring issues which meant it cut out and the carb was to but it mildly toast, yet in the customers mind, it just needs a little tweak to some screw.
If you're brining in the car for an engine check over, we don't want a major fuel leak all over the dyno! If however you want us to fix that issue no problem let us know when you book it!
This Renault 5 though was overall in great shape in terms of all the minor things and the customer should be proud of the work they had already done!
