Since you remapped my car you messed it up!

This Renault went to a "tuner" in Bridgend for a DPF/EGR/AdBlue/Stage 1 solution… and what a mess they made of it!

The tuner outsourced the DPF removal to another garage – they fitted the clamp wrong, allowing exhaust gases to escape. Five minutes on a lift and that was sorted!

Then it went back to the "tuner" who applied their calibration in minutes. No testing. No dyno. Nothing.

The result?
- Limp mode
- Clouds of smoke
- No power
- Error lights on the dash

Their solution? Plug in a code reader, clear the faults, and send the customer on their way.

No checking what had been done
No test drive
No dyno time (not that they have one – just a brake tester)

We compared their calibration against stock and a known good working solution we’ve used many times before. Here's just some of what we found:

- DPF soot estimation table wasn’t set low enough – so soot values were increasing over time

- Max exhaust temperature was way too high for a work van Stage 1

- Fueling maps were tuned on the wrong axis – instead of doing it at max load they added fuel at 3k rpm and higher whatever the load/pedal position. Honestly just stupid

- Torque limiters were just… weird. Not seen anything like it

- Limp mode was being triggered by the ECU thinking it was making too much torque – with a matching fault code

And the AdBlue solution? Junk.
They even left the AdBlue controller connected under the driver’s seat – which should not be the case for this ECU.

Quick trip to Llandow Tuning – problem solved.

The issue with these so-called “tuners” is simple: no R&D.
You might see a few cars outside, but where are the development vehicles?
Are they really writing these calibrations themselves? Or is *your* car the guinea pig?

In this case, it looks like the "tuner" bought the file from a £25 file service and hoped for the best.
When it goes wrong, they can't fix it – and the file supplier just says: "It’s fine mate, must be the car."

The engine had some great gains with our Stage1+ map making proven on the dyno: 156HP up from 90HP
